Amleset was born in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. She attended the New York Film Academy and Unity University in Addis Ababa, where she studied filmmaking and journalism. Amleset was the Ethiopian winner of the Miss University beauty contest in 2004. In 2006, she won the winner of the Miss World Ethiopia competition. Amleset is also a film director. Sile Fikir, Adoption, and the documentary Green Ethiopia were all written and produced by her. Amleset is the Ethiopian spokeswoman for the Etete Dairy products. She has also spoken out about Ethiopia’s environmental problems. Amleset took part in the UN 2018 Women First 5 kilometer run in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on March 11, 2018. In a timing of 25 seconds, she won the Icon Women’s race.
