While a gracefully aging face is lovely, there are some changes that come with age that we’d prefer to slow down. Age has an impact on every part of the body. Along with the wisdom, experience, and accomplishments that come with age, we also see changes in our physical appearance. Changes in our faces are the most noticeable.
Behind the scenes, there are also fundamental changes taking place. Fat in the face is uniformly distributed when we’re young, with a few pockets here and there that plump up the forehead, temples, cheeks, and areas around the eyes and mouth. With age, that fat loses volume, clumps together, and transfers lower, causing once round features to sink and smooth, tight skin to loosen and sag. Meanwhile, fat accumulates in other areas of the face, particularly the lower half, causing us to become baggy around the chin and jowly around the neck.
