She was caught on two separate occasions for doing what she believed in, including refusing to recite a speech one time and cooking for male understudies in a camp the next.


Meaza went on to study law at Addis Ababa University and served as an appointed authority at the Ethiopian High Court for a long period. This made her acutely aware of the disparities and ill manners that women suffer when it comes to the application of the law, prompting her to form the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA). Since its inception, EWLA has free-of-charge assigned attorneys to clients and provided free legal counseling and related administrations to more than 100,000 women. The link has been established.
