Unheard realities about the Genale-Dawa 3 Hydropower Project. When finished, the GD3 Hydropower Project will have a complete introduced producing limit of 254 MW. Three vertical Francis turbine generators, each having a creating limit of 84.7 MW, are housed in an underground cave with the primary unit transformers housed in a neighboring sinkhole. A 500-m long link burrow prompts the 230kV/400kV switchyard situated over the ground.
The substantial confronted rockfill dam is 110m high with a peak length of 456m, making a supply volume of 3.2 million m3. The spillway is an open chute type with an ogee weir peak and three spiral spillway entryways. The mid-level outlet is a 679m long passage with an outspread door and an upkeep entryway. A 60-m high force consumption structure with an upward sliding entryway lies at the passage to the 12.4-km long, 8.1-m width, headrace burrow (10.5km uncovered by TBM) which supplies water to the force to be reckoned with through a 188-m profound vertical shaft, steel-lined penstock, and complex passages. Water gets back to the stream through the 820m long tailrace burrow and 480m long open channel.
The Chinese organization, CGGC, is leading the common and electromechanical works of the venture, and its expert tasks have been completed by the USA-based organization called MWH related to nearby firms specifically Acute and Integral. The venture sets out brief occupation open doors for 390 Ethiopians. The complete expense of the venture, which was started in 2003, is $ 451 million, of which 60% is financed by Exim Bank of China and the excess 40% is covered by the public authority of Ethiopia.
