Every Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Ethiopian Time, EBS TV broadcasts Seifu on EBS, an Ethiopian late-night talk show. The hour-and-a-half show, which started on October 24, 2013, is hosted by Seifu Fantahun, a comedian and radio presenter. The show is fashioned after classic late-night talk shows in the United States and incorporates humorous pieces, monologue jokes, musical guest performances, and celebrity interviews. Seifu on EBS is modeled on the popular six-part late-night formula used by many late-night talk show hosts in the US. Seifu on EBS has a 90-minute average episode length, including commercials. Actors, musicians, authors, sports, and politicians are among the signoff guests, who hail from many cultural backgrounds. Fantahun opens each episode with a speech based on current events and subjects. The monologue is periodically accompanied with images and videos from social media. Following the monologue, Fantahun frequently plays games with the audience or does comedy routines with a show guest.
