I recall looking for some decent gels to keep my curls in place. And, as expected, the majority of the decent ones were either unavailable in India or were too expensive. That’s when I came across this amazing flaxseed gel recipe on a curly hair forum — it’s cheap, quick to prepare, and gives curly hair a lot of grip.
Flaxseeds are high in fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6), which help to strengthen hair. Flaxseed gel (FSG) adds bounce and shape to curls. Despite the fact that it is reported to have poor hold, I find that it keeps my hair looking good for at least 8 hours without weighing it down.
Unlike store-bought gels, flaxseed gel is not sticky. It hydrates hair rather than drying it out. It also has a nutty, earthy aroma. A complete success!
