The seeds of the Nigella sativa plant, which thrives in southern Europe, the Middle East, and southwest Asia, are known as black seed. Nigella, black cumin, fennel flower, black caraway, and Roman coriander are some of its other names. These seeds are used to make black seed oil. Oil capsules are available in health food stores and online. In the regions where N. sativa is produced, both the oil and the seeds, which can be eaten raw or lightly toasted, have long been utilized as a therapeutic plant. It’s even mentioned in Mohammad’s statements in the Judeo-Christian Holy Bible. Black seed oil can also be used as a topical treatment. Eczema, psoriasis, and acne have all shown to be improved in small studies. More research is needed, however, to assess both the possible advantages and risks of using black seed and black seed oil. Black seed has medicinal effects due to its principal active ingredient, thymoquinone, which possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and other therapeutic properties that protect the body from cell damage and chronic diseases.
