A senior in my college class who I admired tremendously confided in me and said, “I’ve never had a boyfriend. Even worse, I’ve never been on a date. It was whispered, as if you could not possibly have a more horrible secret. I tucked it away in my head and promised myself, “I’m not getting out of here without a real relationship.” I immediately said yes when someone I didn’t know well asked me out since I had no intention of graduating from college single. It wasn’t exactly the year of my life that ended up being the best, as you may have already guessed. Still, no one enjoys exercising patience. Waiting to meet that unknown, crucial someone is difficult. You were intended by God to play a particular function in this world. Nobody else is capable of doing everything God intended for you to. Therefore, consider your God-given talents as you strive to understand what He intends for you to do with your life. The gifts He has given you will always be closely tied to His plan for you. The good news is that no matter what He has called you to do, you will naturally be good at it. When I discovered how to just stop talking while praying, I experienced a significant turning point in my personal prayer practise. You might think that’s strange, and I did too at first.
