To begin with, you must learn to walk with God if you want to understand God’s will and plan for your life. Your relationship with Him needs to grow. Relationships, not just religion, are the focus of Christianity. You must therefore strengthen your relationship with God. Instead of just learning about Him, you must desire to know Him. Spending time in His Word, making time for prayer, and participating in church activities and small-group Bible studies are the finest ways to develop that relationship. God will start to reveal His purpose to you once you start pursuing these disciplines in your life. When we claim to be seeking God’s will, we often really just want to say, “OK, God, here’s what I’m preparing to do. Right now, could you please stamp this? I have to be honest and say that this is not really a good way to discover His genuine will. You must be determined to carry out God’s will for your life before He will start to reveal it to you. If God knows you won’t follow His plan anyway, He will probably be delayed to reveal it to you. Consider it this way: You should be aware that you essentially reflect the five individuals you spend the majority of your time with.
