African Renaissance Television Services (ARTS TV), based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is an Ethiopian free-to-air entertainment and news television channel. ARTS TV was founded to offer Ethiopia with a non-partisan television network with an African focus, focusing on the continent’s culture, history, arts, politics, and news.
ARTS TV produces and broadcasts programming mostly in Amharic, with English help where needed. Its studios are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and it has a digital presence based on programming it produces in-house and through its subsidiary firm African Renaissance Television Service, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois. Twenty-two Ethiopians, including sportsmen, entertainers, educators, surgeons, attorneys, and multinational CEOs, created ARTS TV in 2016. The organization was founded with the intention of producing and broadcasting media about African cultures, politics, art, food, fashion, and news.
