Water scarcity currently exists in Addis Ababa, and it is predicted to worsen as a result of rising urbanization, higher individual water demand as incomes rise, and the effects of climate change. Surface and groundwater are used to produce 450,000 m3 per day, although it is estimated that 36.5 percent of this water is lost owing to leaks and other system inefficiencies. The anticipated per capita distribution is roughly 40 liters per day, significantly below the city’s aim of 110 liters per day. Water is currently delivered to various portions of the city on a rotating basis by AAWSA, with certain areas receiving water just two days a week via distribution lines or water trucks. U
