Merera Gudina and others letter to US envoy for the horn of Africa

In a media instructions hung on Friday, the Mines and Petroleum Minister, Takele Uma (Eng.) said the end of the licenses was a consequence of powerless exhibitions to get into function according to the legally binding arrangement and insufficient utilization of public and government assets. As of now, near 97 mining investigation and 77 creation firms are putting resources into Ethiopia. Of the 97 investigation firms, the Ministry has chosen to renounce the permit of 19 firms and sent admonitions to 12 organizations.

As indicated by the authorizing chief at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Abebe Bedassa, from the complete 31 organizations, 14 are unfamiliar organizations. Also, of the absolute 77 creation organizations, the Ministry has denied the licenses of eight firms and sent alerts to nine organizations. Organizations including Kenticha tantalum mine, Tulu Kapi gold mine, and Habesha mining are among the organizations to which the Ministry will send a last admonition letter in a couple of days.

Abebe said that in the midst of the Ministry’s help to these organizations occupied with investigation and creation, they are not working as per the law; They are said to have neglected to reestablish licensees, set aside an all-encompassing effort for investigation, and natural debasement, which eventually constrained the Ministry to think about measures. Takele, while conversing with the media, cautioned organizations that are not in consistence with the law of the nation to go along or further measures will be taken.
