Rape has the potential to result in pregnancy. The prevailing scientific consensus is that rape is at least as likely as consensual sexual intercourse to result in pregnancy, with some research suggesting that rape may result in higher pregnancy rates than consensual intercourse.

A woman who falls pregnant as a result of rape may have to decide whether to keep the kid or place it for adoption.
