Faiq Jefri Bolkiah (born 9 May 1998) is a Bruneian professional footballer who currently plays for Thai club Chonburi and the Brunei national team. He has previously led the national team as captain. Bolkiah signed a one-year deal with Southampton F.C. Academy while playing for A.F.C. Newbury in 2009. Until at least December 2011, he remained at Southampton. After previously training with Reading and trialing with Arsenal, Bolkiah signed a two-year youth contract with Chelsea of the Premier League in 2014. Bolkiah played in the 2013 Lion City Cup for Arsenal, where he faced Corinthians, Eintracht Frankfurt, PSV Eindhoven, and a Singapore youth team. Faiq is the nephew of Hassanal Bolkiah, the current Sultan of Brunei, and the son of Jefri Bolkiah, Prince of Brunei. He was born in Los Angeles and is a dual citizen of Brunei and the United States. Bradfield College, in the United Kingdom, was where he received his education. With a net worth of US$20 billion, Bolkiah has been dubbed “the richest footballer in the world.”
