Ethiopian weddings are a colorful occasion, given to the country’s unique wedding traditions. Several young people include traditional practices into their wedding ceremonies, despite the fact that many couples choose to have modern weddings. A handful of Ethiopia’s most well-known wedding traditions are listed here. Telosh takes place two days before to the wedding. The groom and his family give the bride a bridal gown or jewels as a gift. The rest of the guests then present the bride with their presents, after which everyone has dinner. When the groom arrives to pick up the bride, her entire family gathers outside the house and sings a traditional song declaring that no one will be allowed in. Meles is a post-wedding celebration that takes place on the second day after the wedding, usually in the evening or late at night. The newlyweds don a traditional costume known as the Kaba and travel to the location where their parents are hosting the wedding. The family participates in the traditional bread-cutting ceremony at this event. Following the cutting of the bread, the bride’s mother gives her daughter a moniker that everyone will remember from the wedding.
The newlyweds’ parents host a get-together for all of their friends and relatives who were unable to attend the wedding on the third day after the ceremony. The parents of the newlyweds choose the location for this occasion.
