I was the lead in Buhe celebration

Debre Tabor festival is another name for Buhe festival. It is among Ethiopia’s most well-known events related to intangible cultural heritage. The expansion of this sector has been nothing short of astounding, given that event tourism barely gained traction a few decades ago in both the tourism industry and the scholarly community. In the Ethiopian town of Debre Tabor, the celebration is become increasingly popular. “Hoya Hoye” is the title song, and it features a lone vocalist with the others following in time. Little boys perform praise songs outside of homes in exchange for mulmul, or freshly baked bread. The home’s family is then blessed by the lads for the upcoming year.On August 19 (or 13 Nehase in the Ethiopian calendar), the Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox Churches celebrate Buhe, a holiday honoring Jesus’ Transfiguration on Mount Tabor (Debre Tabor in Ge’ez). Buhe is a traditional religious and cultural celebration. People in the neighborhood have been observed to sing songs while tying a bunch of sticks together to form a chibo.
