Time magazine kid of the year Heman Bekele

Time Magazine has selected a 15-year-old youngster from Annandale, Virginia, the 2024 Kid of the Year for his groundbreaking work in the treatment of skin cancer. Ethiopian-born Heman Bekele is creating a soap that may completely change the way skin cancer is treated, Time announced on August 15. Heman told Time, “It’s just amazing to think that my bar of soap will be able to directly affect someone else’s life someday.” “That’s why I got involved in this whole thing in the first place.” According to the magazine’s news release, Heman’s novel soap may provide a more convenient and cost-effective way to administer medication for treating skin malignancies, including melanoma. The soap is not yet commercially available and is still undergoing testing. The adventure of the teenage wonder started when he was barely seven years old. He would make what he dubbed his “potions” by combining different household chemicals, such as laundry detergent and dish soap. He carried out these experiments at home, watching for changes by hiding the mixes under his bed. Heman remembered, “They were just regular household chemicals, dish soap, and laundry detergent.” “If I were to hide them under my bed, I would watch to see what would happen.
